Understanding the "Less Than" Option for Goals
Updated over 3 months ago

When creating a goal and selecting the "Less Than" option as your measurement type, it operates on a Pass/Fail basis instead of the traditional Target and Current Result format used for other measurement types in the Goals application.

How It Works:

  • Creating the Goal: When you create a goal with the "Less Than" option, it's assumed that the Current Result is less than the Target value.

    • For Example:

      • Goal Title: Less Than 5 Safety Incidents

      • Measurement Type: Set to "Less Than"

      • Target Value: 5

  • Updating the Goal: You can update the "Current Result" status to a few options.

    • Less Than Target: If the Current Result is "Less Than" the Target, the goal is 100% complete (Pass).

    • On Track: If the Current Result is "On Track," the goal is 100% complete (Pass).

    • Greater Than Target: If the Current Result is "Greater Than" the Target, the goal is 0% complete (Fail).

Reporting:

  • Pass: Both "Less Than" and "On Track" statuses will contribute a 100% completion rate in the Weighted % Complete calculation.

  • Fail: The "Greater Than" status, contributing 0%, will negatively impact the Weighted % Complete calculation.
