Updating Your Goals
Updated over a week ago

Updating your goals can be done either during your Check-In process or individually within the Goals application. For more details on updating your goals during the check-in process, click here. Access your goals through the left-side navigation menu under Apps > Goals or from the Goals Dashboard card.

1. In the Goals application, navigate to your list of Goals. If your team uses cascading goals, there will be a toggle in the top right corner that will switch your list between goals that you are primarily responsible for and those for which you are listed as a contributor. If you do not see a contributor option, your team does not utilize the cascading configuration. Update your goals using the following steps.

2. Select the three-dot menu next to the specific goal name and choose Edit.

3. Update your goal using the various tabs. Beginning with the "General" tab, review details and update as needed. Be sure to include all of the required fields.

4. Under the "Goal Details" tab, update your progress on the goal. Be sure to have a Target value entered (must be a whole number). If your Goal Type is "To Be Completed" you will not have a Current Result field. Instead, you see a slider to update the % complete. All other goal types calculate the % complete automatically using the Target and Current Result values.

Other items that can be updated on this page vary on your application set-up but might include items such as goal type, goal category, and goal weighting.

If the goal is complete and needs to be closed, you can update the "Status" from Open to Closed in this tab as well.

Closing a goal signifies that no further action is required or being tracked for that particular goal. As a result, the goal will no longer be displayed in the employee check-in.

5. Continue through the Additional Information, Attachments, and Comments tab as needed. These tabs allow you to incorporate additional documentation on your progress related to this goal. Under the "Notify" tab, select who will receive emails regarding your goal updates.

6. Once all the required information is complete and you have finished updating your goal, select "Update" to save the changes.

If a tab is highlighted red, this indicates that a required field is missing and the goal will be unable to update until the necessary information is completed.

Please note, that managers are also able to make edits and view goals for employees on their team. They can do this by navigating to the Goals application and switching their context to "My Team."

Additionally, while updating your goal you will notice an activity log on the righthand side. This will show a record of any previous updates and includes the user who made the update and when the update occurred.
