Updated over 2 weeks ago

The Cascading Goals Report provides an interactive and visual representation of how goals are aligned for users utilizing the cascading configuration.

Accessing the Cascading Goals Report

  1. Navigate to Apps > Goals (the label may vary based on account settings).

  2. Select Cascade Report View, the first option on the left-hand menu.

This will open the Cascading Goals Report, which defaults to the current calendar year. You can adjust the filters for this view on the far right-hand side.

The column labels (first, second, and third-level goals) are determined by your account settings. For the purposes of this resource, we will use the terms "first, second, and third-level goals."

Across the Report view columns, you may see several goal cards.

Each goal card includes:

  • Title

  • Person Responsible

  • Quarter (if enabled)

  • End Date

  • Status Indicator (if enabled):

    • Red: Goal end date has passed.

    • Yellow: Goal end date is within 30 days.

    • Green: Goal end date is more than 30 days away.

  • % Complete

  • Status: At Risk, Needs Attention, On Track

  • Category (if enabled)

  • Alignment Icon: Displays if the goal is aligned to a parent goal.

  • Three-dot Menu: Options available based on access permissions.

User-Specific Views

The Report view varies by user role and can also vary based on specific account settings.

For all user types, where relevant, a cascade icon will be present beside goal cards to indicate cascading alignment.

Admins and Super Users:

  • Admins and Super Users have full visibility of all cascading goals across the organization.

Manager-Level Users:

Managers can view cascading goals based on their role and departmental alignment:

  • First-Level Goals: All first-level goals are visible.

  • Second-Level Goals:

    • Managers can see second-level goals where they are the person responsible.

    • If they are a manager of managers, they can also view second-level goals assigned to their direct reports who are marked as the person responsible.

    • Once viewing a second-level goal, they can also see other second-level goals within the same assigned department (accessible by clicking the cascade icon).

Important note: Visibility of second-level goals may be impacted by account settings that restrict access to records based on the assigned department of the logged-in user. Please contact support if you have additional questions.

  • Third-Level Goals:

    • Managers can view third-level goals that align with their first- or second-level goals and meet the required visibility criteria.

    • They will also see third-level goals for their team, provided the associated second-level goal meets the visibility criteria.

Important Note: If a third-level goal aligns with a second-level goal that does not meet the visibility criteria for a manager, it will not appear in the Cascading Goals Report view but will remain accessible in the "All Goals" view. To learn more about accessing goals in this view, please refer to this help article.

  • Employee Users:

The report view loads goals in reverse order for employees:

    • Third-level goals appear first, followed by second- and first-level goals.

    • Employees can only see goals in their view that are aligned with their cascade.

Important Note: Employees can only access the Cascading Goals Report if the Admin enables it via the Enable Employee Cascading Goal Report setting.

To view goals related to your user role that are not aligned within the cascade, you can also utilize the alternate views provided in the left of the Goals application.
