Completing the Manager Portion of the Performance Review
Updated over 3 months ago

After an employee finishes their self-assessment portion of the performance review, follow these steps to complete the manager portion of the assessment:

Access the Employee’s Review:

  • Navigate to Apps > Performance Reviews.

  • Ensure you are in the “My Team” context.

  • Click the three-dot menu beside the individual’s review you are ready to provide feedback for and select “View/Update Assessment.”

Performance Review Sections

Click through each section of the review to view the employee’s self-assessment and provide feedback. The sections included in the Performance Review are dependent upon the configuration set by your HR team. The titles and total number of sections included may vary between organizations. Managers can provide comments and ratings (if applicable) in the Objectives, Core Values, and Goals sections.

The application autosaves your ratings and comments periodically as changes are made. Be sure to check the last autosave time in the top right and click "Save & Close" at any point to save progress for later.

Sidebar Drawers

Click to expand the sidebar options and view other records related to the employee. This is helpful when completing your ratings and comments as well as conducting the review conversation. Depending on the applications available, you may find Check-ins, 360 Feedback, and Recognition records to review.

Approval Section

Once comments and ratings are added, mark the assessment as complete. Marking the assessment complete indicates that you are finished and ready to conduct the review conversation.

Reviews marked as complete will appear in the Awaiting Conversation stage on the Performance Review Pipeline view.

For some accounts, only the "Manager Completed Assessment" option is available. Others may require approval from additional managers or the HR team, prompting an email to those concerned.

After marking the assessment completed, click Submit. The next step in the review process is to hold the review conversation with your employee. In this conversation, you can review your ratings and comments, discuss their self-assessment, and ensure you are aligned moving forward.

Signing the Review

After holding the review conversation, you are ready to Sign the review. Refer to this article for details on signing your direct reports' reviews. Keep in mind that signing the review makes all manager comments and ratings visible to the employee. After the review is signed, it will move to the Past tab within the Performance Review application.

Recommendations

  • Consider keeping the employee's self-assessment ratings hidden until you have added your ratings and comments. This lessens the chance that your feedback will be influenced by the employee's self-ratings.

  • After completing your ratings and comments, take a moment to review all sections. This preparation will enhance the quality of your conversation during the review conversation.

  • Start entering notes and ratings promptly, without waiting for the employee's self-assessment. Early initiation ensures a smoother, more efficient performance review.
