Weighting objectives, goals (if included), and behaviors is essential for calculating review scores and will determine the user's placement on the Performance-Values Matrix.
The weighting scale ranges from 1 to 10, with 10 being the highest value. These weights should reflect the relative importance of each objective within the overall set, as well as the significance of each behavior within the assigned behaviors.
Weights are typically assigned when creating a review or at the review template level. However, they can be updated when editing existing reviews.
To better illustrate how to apply these weightings in the review process, a video overview is provided below. It covers the steps and best practices for setting and adjusting weights in performance reviews.
How Weighting Works
The weight percentage for each objective or behavior is calculated using the formula:
Weight % = (x / y) * 100
Where:
x = the weight selected for the individual objective or behavior
y = the total sum of all weights selected for the objectives or behaviors on the review
To apply the same weight percentage to multiple objectives or behaviors, simply select the same 1-10 weight value for each.
It’s important to note that the system calculates the weight percentage based on the value selected from the 1-10 scale and cannot perform the reverse process. For example, users cannot directly input a specific percentage and have the system determine the corresponding weight. This ensures consistency and accuracy in how weights are applied across reviews.
Example:
Performance Objective #1 – Weighted 10 = 50%
Performance Objective #2 – Weighted 5 = 25%
Performance Objective #3 – Weighted 5 = 25%
