Applying weights to goals helps your team prioritize tasks and understand which goals are most critical to the organization. This feature allows employees to focus on high-priority goals, and it also provides insights into progress via the Goal Weighting Report.
Goal Weighting Configurations
WorkDove offers two goal weighting options: Default Goal Weighting and Manual Goal Weighting.
Default Goal Weighting
This option allows users to select a weight from a scale of 1-10 during goal creation, indicating the goal's level of importance (with 10 being the most important).
The system calculates the actual weight percentage based on the total points selected.
Manual Goal Weighting
This option lets users manually enter a percentage for each goal during creation.
Note: This option does not prevent users from entering weights that exceed a total of 100%, so it requires careful planning and communication.
Choosing the Right Configuration
When deciding which configuration best suits your organization, consider the following:
Default Goal Weighting: Ideal for prioritizing goals based on their relative importance. The WorkDove system automatically calculates the weight percentage, ensuring consistency across goals.
Manual Goal Weighting: Best for organizations that need precise control over the percentage weight of each goal. Keep in mind that this option requires more communication to avoid exceeding the 100% total weight.

Enabling Goal Weighting:
To enable goal weighting, an account admin must toggle on the "Enable Weighting" setting. This setting is available for both Cascading Goal and Simplified Goal users, and can be found under: Settings > Account Settings > Preferences > Goal Management.
Once goal weighting is enabled, you’ll see an additional setting titled "Allow Manual Goal Weighting". This option is only available after the Enable Weighting setting is turned on.
Viewing Goal Weights:
Goal weights can be viewed from Weight column of the "All Goals" table view within the application. Admins and super users can also access the Goal Weighting Report to see the weighted completion percentage for each user
Goal Weighting in the Goals App vs. Performance Reviews
It’s important to note that goal weighting in the Goals app is separate from the weighting used in performance reviews.
In the Goals app, goal weighting helps you prioritize goals and track overall achievement.
In performance reviews, goal weighting determines how much each goal contributes to the overall review score.
These two types of weighting do not interact within the platform and are used for different purposes. However, goal weights in the app may inform the weighting selected in performance reviews.
