Creating and Assigning Performance Reviews
Creating and Assigning Performance Reviews
Updated over 2 months ago

There are 3 options for creating a Performance Review. Before creating/assigning a review for an employee, we recommend that you consult with your HR team to determine who (Admin/Super, Manager) is responsible for creating and assigning reviews.

Option 1: Create and Assign a Performance Review Template

Performance Review templates can be created by account admins/super users. Depending on your account settings, sometimes managers can create templates as well. Your organization should determine who is responsible for the creation of templates and ensure this is communicated to the appropriate stakeholders.

Creating a Template:

To create a review template, navigate to Templates > Performance Reviews. Click the green plus sign, located in the upper right of the templates page. From this view, you can also edit a template by clicking the 3-dot menu next to an existing template.

Inside of the template creation tool, you will name the template and select the appropriate identifiers for labeling purposes: position, department, location. Next, you will add Performance Objectives and select their weight. (Note: Not all organizations utilize objectives. This section may not be present depending on your account settings.)

Clicking the teal plus sign allows you to add additional objectives to the template. To remove an objective, click the minus sign. There is a limit of 20 objectives per template.

The next section of the template creation tool will allow you to add Core Values/Competencies/Workplace Behaviors and select their weight. There is a limit of 20 core values per template.

Lastly, you have the option to add ten additional questions which will show up under the Summary tab within the review. (Note: These questions can only be answered by the employee when completing their self-assessment.)

Assigning a Template:

Once a review template is created, it can be assigned to employees by navigating to Templates > Performance Reviews. Visit this article to learn more about assigning templates.

Option 2: Copy a Performance Review

There are several options for copying a Performance Review from one cycle to the next. If no changes will be made to an employee’s review template for the next cycle, copying their review is a great option. In addition, you can copy a review from one employee to another if they have the same objectives and core values.

To copy an employee’s past review, navigate to Apps > Performance Reviews > Past and click the 3-dot menu. Then, select “Copy Past Review” from the menu. The next screen will allow you to select an employee (the same person or someone else in the organization) and the review cycle and due date for the new review.

The same copy feature is present in the ‘Current’ view under Performance Reviews as well. You will follow the same steps - click the 3-dot menu and select “Copy Current Review” from the menu.

Option 3: Create a Single Review from Scratch

To create a single review from scratch, navigate to Apps > Performance Reviews and click the green plus sign in the upper right corner of the table view.

After clicking the plus sign, creating a review from scratch will look very similar to creating a template. Once all the information for the review is entered, navigate to the people selector. Select the individual(s) you want to assign this review to and click ‘Create’ to assign.

Duplicate Reviews

Employees can have multiple reviews assigned to them at once in WorkDove, however, they can only have ONE review assigned per cycle. You will receive an alert when you are about to create a duplicate review for a team member. If the Year and Review Cycle are the same as an existing review for the employee you will see a banner message like the one pictured below notifying you that the template could not be assigned. If you are assigning a review template you will see a pop-up window alerting you about potential duplicates.
