How Do I Create Check-Ins?
Updated over a week ago

You have 3 options to create Check-Ins for your organization or your team members. The option you use may be best determined by where you are in the implementation process, however, all 3 options can be used at any time.

1. Check-In Template

Create a Check-In template with the questions you would like to assign to multiple employees.

  • Navigate to Templates > Check-Ins

  • Create your Check-in Template by clicking the green plus sign (+)

  • On the next page, there are several fields to complete.

    • Title: Provide a name for your template. This field is required.

    • Position, Department, Location: These optional fields help organize your templates. Completing them does not restrict assigning the template to individuals outside of those categories.

    • Questions: The page initially displays three suggested questions. You can remove these and/or add additional questions using the + and - buttons next to the question fields. A maximum of 10 questions can be added.

    • Include Performance Objectives and/or Include Core Values: These options add tabs for employees to reflect on assigned objectives and core values when checking in. However, the tabs only appear if the employee has an assigned Performance Review with associated objectives and core values in the system.

  • Once the template is created, follow the steps outlined in this article to assign your template.

Important Notes:

  • Employees who already have a Check-In assigned will not show up in the People Selector.

  • Manager-level users can assign Check-In templates but may not be able to create a template unless this setting is enabled.

2. Create a Single Check-In

When you are on the Team Check-In pages you have the "+" option to create a single Check-In. We pre-load recommended questions to get you started, however, you can change the questions or add in custom questions.

  • Navigate to Apps > Check-Ins and use the "+" option. Note that the + button will not appear if everyone on your team already has a Check-In assigned.

Keep in mind, whether you are creating a single Check-In or using a template the system requires at least one Check-In question to be included.

Important Notes:

  • If you use a template to create Check-Ins but later decide you need to change the questions, Admin and Super Users can do so by using the Bulk Edit option. Click here for more details.

3. Copy an Existing Single Check-In

If someone on your team has a Check-In created through the single check-in method noted above, and you want to apply the same set of questions and frequency for a new team member, you can utilize the three-dot menu to copy the Check-In form to another user.

  • Navigate to Apps > Check-Ins and click on the three-dot menu next to the name of the individual whose check-in you wish to copy.

  • Select the "Copy Check-In Form" option.

Important Note:

  • This option is only visible for check-ins created using the green + sign. Those with templates assigned will not show the copy option from the three-dot menu.
