Closing a goal indicates that no further action is needed for that specific goal. Goals can be closed when they are completed or deemed no longer relevant. Additionally, some organizations choose to close all goals at the end of the year to provide users with a clearer view in the goals application. This is particularly helpful since the default view in the goals app displays all open goals for the user.
Closing an Individual Goal
To close an individual goal, navigate to the goals application and locate the goal you want to close. Click the 3-dot menu next to the goal's title, then select Edit from the action menu.
In the Goal Details tab, find the Status dropdown menu and change it from Open to Closed. Click Update in the upper-right corner to save your changes.
Bulk Closing Goals
Admins and Super Users can close multiple goals at once for their organization. Follow these steps to perform a bulk goal closure:
Ensure you are in the All Goals view within the Goals application and click on the Bulk Operations icon.
Select the goals you want to close, then click the Bulk Edit button in the upper-right corner. This will open the Bulk Edit menu.
In the Status section of the menu, select Closed from the dropdown menu. Click Proceed to continue
A confirmation pop-up will appear. Review the details and click Confirm to finalize the bulk closure.
Accessing Closing Goals
By default, the Goals application displays all open goals for the user. However, closed goals remain accessible and can be viewed by adjusting the filter settings.
Click the Filter icon (funnel shape) in the upper-right corner of the Goals application. In the Status filter, change the selection from Open to Closed. Click Apply Filter to update the view and display all closed goals.
Things to note:
Closed goals are not included in employee check-ins. Only open goals appear in check-ins for updates.
Closed goals can be updated or reopened, depending on your account settings. If your account has the "Lock Closed Records for Managers & Employees" setting enabled, closed goals cannot be edited.
Users can reflect on closed goals during performance reviews. For more details about adding goals to reviews, visit this article.
