Reporting Loop
Updated over a week ago

In a traditional organizational chart, there is an executive level, manager level, and an employee level. (There may be more than one managerial level.)

With this structure, a manager typically shows up in the chart reporting structure on one (1) level.

If you have a manager that is in more than one (1) level of the same line of reporting this may create a loop.

In the example below Andy is both managing Melissa and is managed by Matt, who is below Melissa in the same line of reporting. This creates a recursive lookup when accessing records and may cause an issue.

If you experience an issue, first check the reporting structure and make edits as needed. If you organization requires this type of reporting loop you may want to consider assigning Andy as a Secondary Manager of Melissa.
