How does the Less Than option work for Goals and OKRs?
Updated over a week ago

When you are creating goals or OKRs, the application offers many measurement type options. Most of these are straightforward. The metric based options have a Target value and a Current Result value which calculates the % complete.

The Less Than option is a bit different. These are seen as a Pass / Fail rather than a traditional Target and Current Result format.

When the record is created, it is assumed the results are Less Than the Target field. As the lifespan of the goal continues, you have the option to set the Current Result to On Track or Greater Than.

Let's look at an example:

Goal or OKR - Less Than 5 Safety Incidents

  • Set the measurement to Less Than

  • Set the Target value to equal 5

  • When the Current Result = Less Than, the % complete = 100% (Pass)

  • When the Current Result = On Track, the % complete = 100% (Pass)

  • When the Current Result = Greater Than, the % complete = 0% (Fail)

For reporting purposes,

The pass options of Less Than or On Track will equal 100% count for you in the calculation of Weighted % Complete.

The fail option of Greater Than, which equals 0%, counts against you in the calculation of Weighted % Complete.
